Finally. An allergy-free cookbook that provides a break from the frustration of finding meals the whole family can enjoy. The recipes are flavorful, healthy, and child tested and endorsed. As the mother of a 10-year-old with food sensitivities, I understand when parents commonly tell me how exhausting it can be trying to stick to allergy-free/toxin-free diets. Parents cook a separate meal for their food sensitive child, and worry about food getting contaminated by touching other foods. Fortunately, there is now a cookbook that is healthy, all family members will like, and you can feel relief knowing that your kitchen is filled with only the best foods to improve the health of your family and growing child's mind and body. ~ Dr. Victoria Brewer, M.P., Ph.D.

Most of the recipes are good and things I can eat, except some call for brown sugar and/or molasses. Both of which may contain corn, after most of these ingredients she says "see note". I have been through the book several times thinking she might list brands that are corn free, but I can't find anything. I'm i missing something? Meanwhile I will substitute the brown sugar for coconut sugar, which I think tastes similar to brown sugar, and maybe skip the recipes with molasses, because I don't know of any substitution.Product details

I don't really cook with recipes much, (I'm a guy), but a new healthy way to cook got my attention. Browsing through the selections, I figured someday to try the pizza dough (everyone loves pizza) and the banana bread, only because those over ripe things needn't be tossed. Of course I give my blender to my neighbor and now I have these healthy beverage recipes taunting me... Oh well, someday.
The book had information I was looking for. Easy book to obtain using download. Would purchase more book by download. Good book!
Liked that there was no egg or other allergens in any of the recipies.
Many different types of recipies shown.
I was so excited to see a cookbook for not only top 8-free, but corn-free too, because so many gf recipes use corn. The first (and only, so far) recipe I tried was the braided sweet bread. The last ingredients on the main list were 3T canola oil and 1/2c warm rice milk, but as I started making the recipe, I couldn't find where I was supposed to put these in! After completing the recipe without them, I'm pretty sure they weren't supposed to be in there (or maybe the rice milk was meant to be a possible substitution for the warm water in the yeast mix??). My bread turned out pretty good, but the recipe was incredibly frustrating to figure out. Since this was a free book, I can't be too upset. Get what you pay for, I guess... I'll post an update when I try another recipe.
When I am looking for allergy free recipes, I am mainly looking for making treats and baked goods that my egg/nut/sesame allergic child can have that would compete with her non-allergic friends. For example, my daughter can have no chinese/thai food, I would love a recipe for chines food that would replicate the taste without using nuts, sesame or egg. Many of the recipes in this book you can find elsewhere because they are originally allergen free or can be easily modified (I have never known a chili recipe to have top 8 allergens, for example. another one is corned beef brisket, I have never know that to have top 8 allergens or msg or corn if made from scratch)
If you have gluten/wheat I would think these recipes would be helpful because they have gluten free recipes for honey rolls, pancakes, etc. If you are an accomplished cook or don't have to deal with wheat or gluten, I can think you could find most of the recipes on the internet for free because they are basic. I mean, there is a recipe for making oatmeal, I think I can get that off the back of the container.
One thing that kind of bugs me is that sesame is rated as another common allergen, more so than corn (number 3 and 4 in Israel and Australia for instance). There are a quite a few recipes using sesame seed or tahini.
Just my 2 cents, if you cook a lot, make things from scratch often, then this is common information you can find for free. I downloaded the book when it was free, and I don't use it at all.
The beauty of this cookbook is that it gets straight to the point. The recipes are simple and the ingredients "common." As a mother of two kids on the autism spectrum who are on a gluten free diet, one with a severe fish allergy and a husband with Crohn's, I can say that this book offers many good suggestions to get some variety back into the menu and doing so on a reasonable budget. The recipes appeal to the whole family and range from complete dishes, desserts, all the way to condiments like ketchup or apple butter. Little helpful hints and warnings are posted regarding the sources of certain products and how to determine wether or not they are safe. A VERY useful addition to our kitchen library!
