This is a book of poems of a retiree about memories from his life in Zamboanga City, Philippines; Pago Pago, American Samoa; Ewa Beach, Hawaii; and Renton, Washington. It is also an expression of his grief on the loss of his grandson, Ethereal, who passed away at a young age of eleven. The poems are varied in format and range from the structured sonnet to the flowing words of free verse. A few of the poems have been posted at the community poetry club at AARP.org.

Jun has worked a long time on this book of poems. His depth and style of writing are amazing and even if you do not know him or live in the islands you are able to put your own interpretations for many of his writings and apply them to your own feelings-which is true for most poetry. I am excited about the works he presented in his first book and have already ordered the kindle version. Congratulations Jun Duldulao for a job well done.
I've been reading Duldulao's poems for years on AARP, and he is one of my favorite poets. I am so glad to now have a whole collection of his work to read. His vivid descriptions make me feel like I am walking in his footsteps in the south seas--worth the walk, even when it is a walk of sadness and despair at times. Duldulao gives us a glimpse of a different world--not just the visual, but the sounds, smells, tastes, and FEELINGS that go with that life. I can get something new from his poems each time I reread them.
Duldulao's poetry transports me to fabulous places. The diversity of feelings he displays in each of his poems makes you want to read more. I am familiar with the title because I have read his poetry for years in the AARP's Poetry Group. I recommend everybody who loves poetry to read The Ethereal Tree.
